Environment Hygiene Services was established in 1997 to launch and sell the pigeonglide system. In 2008, the company secured investment from two of the world’s renowned businessmen; Gordon Roddick, entrepreneur, activist and co-founder of both the Body Shop and The Big Issue - together with Rory Stear, social entrepreneur and co-founder of Freeplay Energy Group. At the same time the company name was changed to reflect the new opportunities.
John’s career was spent in social work and he later read law, attending the Council of Legal Education. In 1997 he changed direction, he set-up Environment Hygiene Services in response to the High Court decision in Wandsworh LB V Railtrack plc (pigeon nuisance). There was a clear need for a better solution to protecting buildings and bridges from bird infestation. The result was Pigeonglide™ (patent pending) and as CEO of Glide Holdings he is looking to fully exploit the opportunities in the UK and look to markets in Europe and beyond.
